The Child Mind Institute honored former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine at its inaugural Child Advocacy Award Dinner at Cipriani 42nd Street. The dinner celebrated the Institute's remarkable accomplishments in its first year as it continues to help children suffering from psychiatric and learning disorders lead happy, healthy, and productive lives. A presentation included a film by Academy Award-winning director Ross Kaufmann (Born Into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids), featuring actress Veronica Webb. President Bill Clinton, via video, presented the 2010 Child Advocacy Award to Corzine, praising his work in strengthening mental health care for kids and their families. The Distinguished Scientist Award was granted to Drs. Judith Rapoport and Jerome Kagan. Notables included Dr. Harold Koplewicz and Linda Sirow, Debra Perelman and Gideon Gil, Elizabeth and Michael Fascitelli, Brooke and Daniel Neidich, along with event co-chairs Preethi Krishna, Ram Sundaram, and K.C. Flowers. Along with boldfacers Robert DeNiro, Grace Hightower, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Vera Wang, and Dr. Ruth Westheimer (just to name a few!), the attendees raised a whopping $5.1 mil!
