Jane Seymour

Jodie Foster, Jane Seymour, and Gloria Steinem were among the boldfaced names at ELLE Décor's annual "Dining by Design" affair at The Waterfront. The event, sponsored by GE, benefited the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) and showcased work by top designers in the business.

Rather than gracing the runways with their masterpieces, designers were given a basic table with ten chairs to work with. Creative freedom was the mantra of the day (as long as the space had a device for chilling champagne) and participants outdid one another. Designer Adrienne Landau was a standout with her intimate low, plush seating fashioned to resemble rocks in a Zen garden. Her setting-atop a patterned fur rug-featured a fireplace and table swathed in fabric.

Diners in design: David Rockwell, Margaret Russell, Peter Som, Illeana Douglas, Thom Filicia, Phillip Bloch, Francisco Costa, Robert Verdi, Kelly Killoren-Bensimon, Douglas Wilson, and Jonathan Adler.

Scores of 10 all around!
