Jon Gruen

Glittering guests representing the heart and soul of the East End gathered for the annual Heart of the Hamptons Gala at the Sienna Spirituality Center at Villa Maria in Water Mill, which raised big bucks for the American Heart Association. The event honored East End cardiologist Dr. Thomas Falco, who received the Distinguished Service Award for his dedication to the care and prevention of heart disease. Andrew Sabin, owner of the Sabin Metal Corporation, received the Distinguished Leadership Award for his continued support.

Event chair Jon Gruen, founder of Gruen Optika, and event vice chair and President of Park Avenue Mortgage Ellen Bitton welcomed guests, including: Donna Fritzer, Kim Greenberg, Harvery Ross, Lenore and Bob Cohen, and Cheryl and Gary Podhaizer. The evening began with a tasting of local wines from Martha Clara Vineyards, John Charles Family Vineyard, Wölffer Estate, and Peconic Bay Winery. Later, there was a delectable, heart-healthy, and butter-free dinner catered by Starr Boggs. Then it was into the breezy tent for dancing and a live auction, which featured wines and treasures, including a 40s replica of a Gilbert Poillerat hand-crafted, iron sunburst chandelier, a weekend at the NY Palace Hotel, and a week-long stay for six at a select fishing lodge in Canada. A successful event that was close to everyone’s heart….
