The opening night for Priscilla, Queen of the Desert at the Palace Theatre was electrifying, to put it mildly. This big-budget feel-good over-the-top drag queen musical has heart - it's pure entertainment about three misfits who get together on a journey through Australia's outback on a glitzy bus. And the costumes are awesome. A laugh a minute. “It's like La Cage on acid,” said Cindy Adams. In the mix at the opening and after party held at Chelsea Piers were Renee Zellweger, Jimmy Nederlander and Margo MacNabb, Bradley Cooper, Barbara Walters, Kathleen Turner, Bette Midler (one of the producers), Christie Brinkley, and Guy Pearce.

Those seeking simpler humor and subtlety should check out a more family-friendly musical such as Mary Poppins. The racy Priscilla is strictly for the mature and the open-minded. We loved it!
