Mayor Michael Bloomberg

Mayor Michael Bloomberg hosted an intimate benefit dinner at Gracie Mansion to raise funds for the sprawling 209-year-old official home of the mayor on the East River. The mansion had 40,000 visitors last year.

Among the cultured crowd of 200: co-chairs Anne and Alain Goldrach, RFR Realty’s Richard Farley, Katherine Farley and Jerry Speyer, Parks Commissioner Adrienne Benepe, Deputy Mayor Patricia Harris, Landmarks Preservation Com mission Chairman Bob Tierney, Ambassador John Loeb Jr. and Sharon Handler, Jamie Drake, Marie Jose and Henry Kravis, Frick Museum director Collin Bailey, and Charlynn and Warren Goins.

The fab fare came courtesy of prominent restaurants (“treasures,” as the mayor called them) from all five boroughs. They included: Da Noi, Garden Café/The Palm House, and Taverna Kycaldes. The raw bar was provided by Atlantic Grill, the rack of lamb was a contribution of Four Seasons chefs Christian Albin and Fred Mero, and mini fromage blanc ice-cream cones topped with raspberry sauce were crafted by The Modern’s executive pastry chef Marc Aumont.

A grand performance was delivered by Faith Prince, who delighted matinee idols singing “Broadway Baby” and “Before the Parade Passes By.”
(She can also be seen on Broadway in A Catered Affair, alongside Harvey Fierstein.)

A record-breaking $776,000 was raised to maintain the mansion and its mission.
