Ivana Trump, Joan Jedell-a leg up

A "care"-fully coordinated lunch was held at Cipriani 42nd St., with just as much glam as giving, as The Hampton Sheet publisher and editor-in-chief Joan Jedell was honored, along with Gayle King and Maureen Lippe, at the United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) sixth annual Women Who Care Luncheon.

Women Who Care was created to honor female role models representing various segments of the community. It's a celebration of women who have blazed new paths, broken glass ceilings, and inspired others through their professional and charitable endeavors.

Ms. Jedell-sporting a new 'do by society hair designer Rodolfo Valentin and decked out in a Pilar Rossi number, Beverly Feldman red-hot shoes with leopard heels, and Ron Rizzo jewelry-was honored for encouraging support of charitable organizations around the world. She was scheduled to be introduced by Ivana Trump, but the event ran long and Ivana had to jet off to the Bahamas for the opening of the new Atlantis hotel. In a pinch, co-chair Loreen Arbus (whose father, Leonard Goldenson, founded ABC TV) jumped in and gave an excellent intro. Joan ended her speech by thanking her daughter, Sheri, whom she raised as a young single parent, for being the motivation in her life.

In a surprise moment, Martha Stewart honored Jedell via video: "I thought I knew a lot of people, but Joan, you know everybody... I don't recall attending one event where your white Mercedes has not been parked outside... And on a personal level, thank you for your support over the years and also for allowing me to grace the cover of The Hampton Sheet. You are such an institution to all of us out East, and the Hamptons would certainly never be the same without Joan Jedell."

Master of ceremonies Donna Hanover teamed up with Hearst Magazines president Cathy Black and co-chair Patricia Ganzi to help raise $665,000 to support the UCP's extensive network, serving 13,000 children and adults with disabilities. Comedienne Geri Jewell, who was born with cerebral palsy and was the first person with the disability to appear on a primetime sitcom, hit the stage to perform that evening, bringing awareness to the disease and its symptoms. Tom Arnold was also on hand to entertain the guests.

The "Grab-a-Bag," chaired by Rosemary Ellis (editor-in-chief of Good Housekeeping), brought in $80,000 by offering Dooney & Bourke gift bags filled with prizes such as a week at the Golden Door spa, first-class Continental Airlines tickets, Ron Rizzo jewelry, David Goodman fur, Bond No.9 perfume, sunscreen from Sadick Dermatology, a Baume & Mercier watch, Peter Thomas Roth products, Bobbi Brown cosmetics, Swarovski crystal, and oh-so-much more!

Celebratory well-wishers included: Twyla Tharp, Chie Imai, RFR's Richard Farley, John Mahdessian, David Goodman, Dr. Neil Sadick, Lili Taylor, Ellen Levine, Cynthia Maltese, CeCe Black, Juliana Terian, Eugenia Foxworth, Catherine Saxton, Marianne Strong, Joy Rosenthal, Donna Soloway, Jane McEvoy, Barbara Bennett, Judy Gilbert, Suzanne Wright, Dawn Mangrum, Ronnie Copa, and Rita Zimmer.

A special thank you goes out to William White (of William White Assoc.), who worked tirelessly to produce this great event.
