Anderson Cooper

Soho’s iconic Puck Building was the setting for the 20th annual Bailey House Auction and Party, which drew a thousand bidding revelers. Project Runway’s Tim Gunn and designers Jonathan Adler, Simon Doonan, and John Bartlett hosted the bash, which featured both silent and garrulous auctions.

Items on the block included: four nights at Twin Palms (the original Palm Springs estate of Frank Sinatra), a week at Val Kilmer’s 6,000-acre Pecos River Ranch near Santa Fe, and original art by William Wegman, Herb Ritts, Robert Mapplethorpe and others.

A highlight of the festivities was seeing some feisty women outbid one another for a lunch with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Who knew his going hourly rate over salad niçoise is now $4,500?

The “good deed in a very naughty, very scary world,” as Liz Smith called it, raised $820,000, which went toward housing and empowering people living with AIDS.

Way to bid!
