Central Park Zoo provided the perfect setting for the Wildlife Conservation Society Gala 2012: Coasts of Patagonia, honoring WCS president and CEO Dr. Steven E. Sanderson and Dr. Juan Carlos Castilla, professor of ecology at the Catholic University of Chile. The event highlighted the organization's commitment to the Southern Cone region of South America, and the conservation of the globally significant natural wealth along the Chilean and Argentinian coasts.
Event designer and floral architect Preston Bailey dressed up the zoo to pay homage to the splendor of the Patagonia Coasts. Glam gala guests enjoyed cocktails beside the sea lions, followed by dinner and dancing under the stars. The evening was a mélange of natural beauty and extravagant luxury, all to benefit the Wildlife Conservation Society and its efforts to protect wildlife around the world.
