As Cindy Adams says, “If you’re indicted, you’re invited”—but honored? The former chairman of Sotheby’s auction house, Alfred Taubman—who has been keeping a low profile since his 2002 conviction (one year in jail and $7.5 million fine) for conducting a price-fixing scheme with rival Christie’s—was honored by the Museum of Arts & Design at their 2006 Visionaries! awards at Pier Sixty.

Bill McCuddy played emcee as co-chairs Barbara Tober and Jerome Chazen honored Taubman (who was there with his wife, Judy, former Miss Israel) for his work as a philanthropist and entrepreneur. Also honored were Paige Rense (editor-in-chief of Architectural Digest for the past 31 years), Ron Arad, and Toshiko Takaezu.

Among the guests: Mario Buatta, Holly Hotchner, John Loring, Jack Lenor Larsen, Reed Krakoff, Fritz Morsches, and Lita Semerad.
