Maestro Lorin Maazel led the orchestra through a dazzling array of performances, featuring Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos (performed by Emanuel Ax and Yefim Bronfman), and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, “Eroica.” The event included over 900 guests and raised more than $3 mil.
In the throng: Barbara Walters, Evelyn and Leonard Lauder, Diane and Paul Guenther, Cece Cord, Mercedes and Sid Bass, Joanne and Roberto de Guardiola, Jerry Speyer, Audrey and Martin Gruss, Marjorie and Gurnee Hart, Carol and Jerry Levin, and Daisy and Paul Soros.
