A bevy of powerful women gathered at the 20th annual Citymeals-on-Wheels Power Lunch for Women at the Rainbow Room, raising over $1 million to pro-vide 220,000 meals to those in need. For a ticket price of $10,000, male attendees got the privilege of lunching with these famous ladies.

The luncheon, hosted by Giuseppe Cipriani and co-chaired by Meryl Streep, Iman, and Fran Weissler, honored Cathleen Black (president of Hearst Publications), Sallie Krawcheck, and Doreen Toben, with CNN’s Paula Zahn served as emcee. Marian Seldes joined the women in reading thank-you notes from some of the 17,500 of New York’s hungry and homebound elderly—from Holocaust survivors to former Ringling Bros. circus performers to centenarians (with Streep showing her acting chops, reading each one with a different accent).

The organization, created by food critic Gael Greene and chef James Beard, will serve their 34 millionth meal by the end of this year—delivering a real dose of holiday cheer!
