“Lazy and egotistical phonies who have too much money, fame and leisure time to spout off on topics they know nothing about,” Andrea Peyser says of Tom Cruise, Madonna, Sean Penn, Rosie O’Donnell and other faces of Hollywood in her new book Celebutards: The Hollywood Hacks, Limousine Liberals and Pandering Politicians Who are Destroying America.

The acid-tongued New York Post columnist celebrated the tome’s publication at a posh Park Avenue soiree hosted by Peyser’s publisher Merle Hoffman. The party was packed with media but delightfully celebutard-free. Peyser once wrote in a column, “In an age when fabulousness is too often mistaken for gravitas, we must be vigilant. We must know the difference between philosophers and blowhards, between Soren Kierkegaard and Susan Sarandon. We must know our celebutards.”

But Peyser keenly acknowledges the societal contributions of a celebutard. “If these people just acted and performed—just shut up and did their jobs like they’re supposed to—there wouldn’t be a book and I wouldn’t have anything to do!”
